Our Beginnings:

Willow Park Seeds was founded by Hannah and Mark, lifelong residents of the North West. Our story began with a simple yet powerful idea: to create a company that not only offered exceptional wild bird food but also contributed to the conservation and well-being of the beautiful wildlife we so hold dear. The inspiration came from our very own Willow Park, a haven for wildlife near where we used to live in Newton-Le-Willows. Its abundance of Songbirds, Squirrels, Foxes, Ducks, Geese, and Herons provided countless hours of observation. Witnessing how much the community enjoyed visiting the park to interact with nature was truly heartwarming. It was here that our love for wild birds, foxes, hedgehogs, and the entire natural ecosystem that thrives around us grew from a mere fascination into a calling. Experiencing wildlife and nature, whether in public spaces such as Willow Park, in your own back gardens, in an allotment (if you’re lucky enough to have one), or in any of the fantastic and ever-increasing community gardens in our big cities, interacting with nature contributes significantly to positive mental health, education, and understanding. This helps us realize just how important nature is to the planet and its ecosystem.

Our Passion for Wild Birds:

At Willow Park Seeds, we believe that wild birds deserve only the best. Our devotion to these colorful characters has led us to carefully curate a selection of wild bird food and accessories that cater to their diverse needs. From finches to robins, sparrows to blue tits, we provide a variety of nutritious and high-quality bird seed blends that ensure our bird populations remain vibrant and well-fed throughout the seasons. We take pride in offering bird feed that is free from additives, preservatives, and fillers. Every seed mix we offer has been thoughtfully chosen to provide the essential nutrients and energy required for wild birds to thrive, especially during challenging times like winter and the breeding season.

Our Commitment to Wildlife Conservation:

Our love extends to the charming and sometimes elusive creatures that share our environment, including foxes and hedgehogs. Foxes are intelligent and adaptable creatures that have long fascinated us. We actively support local fox conservation efforts by offering safe and dedicated spaces on our own land to protect and preserve these beautiful animals. Foxes visit our property on a nightly basis, where we will often leave them small amounts of food such as whole eggs or fox biscuits. We wouldn’t want to feed them too much, as it’s important that they know how to provide for themselves. However, in winter, we may increase the amount of food left out to ensure they have enough energy to provide for themselves. We believe that coexisting harmoniously with foxes is not only possible but also essential for the health of our ecosystem. We have hundreds of hours of video of foxes visiting our property, and it’s only when you experience them on a regular basis that you truly understand how clever they are.

The endearing local hedgehogs hold a special place in our hearts too. We understand the challenges these spiky mammals face in an ever-changing world. That’s why we have created nooks and crannies, compost heaps, and a huge amount of dense vegetation on our land for them to thrive in. We provide food for hedgehogs on a nightly basis and have, on many occasions, been utterly surprised at how close the hedgehogs and foxes stand next to each other when feeding. Constantly being around nature does bring its surprises and very often a great learning experience for us all.
